Synchronize your lenses

Every once in a while my friends and I take pictures of the same or similar things without planning it.  K8 and I shot exactly the same arrangement of veggies and boxes at different Farmers Markets.  And from last week this:  http://christymphoto.blogspot.com/2010/02/mysterious-stuff.html

Here's my version of the same kind of  tree

and the long view just for fun.

Our opening is tomorrow at Vintage Berkeley.  See you there.

Our show is hung

as of yesterday.  Oy, what a painful experience this has been for me but what a hurdle I've jumped.  Actually, I'm suspended right over the hurdle and if I crash right here, it could hurt a whole bunch.  What an opportunity to learn:  a) be true to yourself and your work; and b) if you're gonna put it out there, go big. Big sigh. Here's a comforting image from the archives.

Pilings

Pilings
I missed this one yesterday. Another favorite from the fog. These are the pilings under the restaurant -- Skates -- at the Berkeley Marina.

Fungus Green

Fungus Green
It's been an incredible week for picture taking. The fog was irresistible.  Every morning I was up and out first thing.  The fog had turned to high clouds today but it still makes for nice light.

Today I took the dog down to the Berkeley Marina.  She got caught in the riprap and I had to go fish her out.  Bloody dog.  Literally.

The limits of my little camera were a problem -- not able to close the lens down enough for the long depth of field and (always a problem for me) missing the image when the dof is short. Sigh.

The Fish Table (see prior post) is my favorite fog photo. I'm trying to decide which is my second fav from the week. This one:

a little rotted fruit eye candy?  Or this one:

This photo of my clogs got more views on Flickr than any other from the week.  Fetishists.  Sheesh.

But spring is in the air and the colors are small and tender. It was a good week.

The Fog Makes Everything Pretty

Even decrepit old barges.

The Bay is right on the other side of this table.  The fog was so thick you had to be on top of something to see it.

Foggy Bay

I find this photo strangely satisfying. There's no postprocessing involved, no cropping. It's right out of the lens. No worries, I was not looking through the lens or even at the screen when I clicked the shutter. It was one of those point-the-camera-randomly moments, click, and hope something works. I was driving after all.

My babies are out in the world on their own!

Ten framed 8x10s and 3 framed 5x7s went to Fred's house on Sunday awaiting their temporary home-away-from-home at Vintage Berkeley. The letting go was painless, liberating, exciting . . .

These are a few of the things that went to Fred (some edited/processed differently but gives you the idea).

More info on show and party to come.

About Me

My photo
Berkeley, CA, United States
Being an unemployed mom made it possible for me to return to my first love: photography. I'm generally a crafty sort; love to knit, cook, make cards, you name it. I love hanging with my kid and the conversations that ensue. My husband is a sweetie and my friends are the best. Not an irresponsible one in the bunch. I would love to hear your comments, especially on my photographs.
